Tortoise & Hare Chess Activity Pack
Two things in one pack: coloring pages and a chess puzzle sheet, both from the Short.
The coloring pages are clean line art: the Tortoise in his beanie, the Hare in his scarf, the two of them at the board, and the chessboard itself, ready for color. The puzzle sheet is built on the game the Short replays, Capablanca vs. Marshall, New York 1918. Four "find the move" positions, each at a turning point in the game. Then the full move list, so a child can play the whole game through on a real board, and an answer page that says why each move works.
Written for ages 8 to 14. A player needs to know how the pieces move; nothing more. The parent does not need to know chess, either. The answers do the explaining.
From Pine Pass™, the mountain town in the Halter Home Labs™ stories.
