One email when a site goes down, one when it comes back. Nothing in between.
List the websites and APIs you care about. The workflow checks them on a schedule and emails you only when something changes: once when a site goes down, once when it recovers.
A check passes when the site answers in time with a normal status. Add an optional keyword and it also confirms that text is on the page, which catches a page that loads fine but shows an error.
A site has to fail several checks in a row before you hear about it, so one-off blips don't wake you up. If several sites change at once, you get one email covering all of them.

FAQ
How often does it check?
Every 5 minutes by default. You can change the interval.
Will it spam me during an outage?
No. You get one DOWN alert and one RECOVERED alert per site. If several sites change at once, they share one email.
Can it alert somewhere other than email?
Yes. Replace the email node with n8n's Slack, Discord, Teams, or SMS node.
What counts as down?
An error status, no answer within your timeout, or, if you set one, a missing keyword. It must fail the number of times in a row you choose.
Does it monitor my n8n server itself?
No. It runs on your n8n, so if n8n is down it can't send. Pair it with an outside check for the server it runs on.
